I wrote a book on becoming a landlord, “Getting Started As A Small Scale Landlord” back in January 2022. It’s been well received, and I’ve thought for some time that it would be a good candidate for an audiobook.
The day has arrived, and it’s now available!
I’ve written previously about recording my own audiobook. It was interesting the second time as well. I upgraded from just using my wife’s combo headphones and mic that she uses for Zoom meetings to a proper blue yeti microphone.
In writer communities, there are strong recommendations to hire people to design your covers and narrate your audiobooks. Narrating your own nonfiction is more acceptable than narrating your own fiction. In both cases, I think if someone wants to take a shot at doing their own thing, they should. I enjoyed doing the narration and my wife and I were willing to put the money into buying a microphone, but less eager to hire a narrator.
Currently, I’m on the fence about whether I should self-record one of my fiction titles.
You can go directly to the audible page (image above) or go to the Amazon page below, which also has a link to the audiobook. As of this writing, there’s a free promotion for 3 months of Audible, which include a free book each month (you could grab this one AND “Negotiating After Getting A Job Offer“). Just click on the black header that says “3 months free”.
